Abramelin Studios Limited - Motion Capture Studio
Starting our virtual worlds orientated motion capture studio back
in 2005, We are one of the first companies in Secondlife® to
capture original animations for Secondlife®. Investing heavily
in the technology required it has enabled us to provide some of the
smoothest and most realistic animations available in world to date.
Although we are not currently undertaking any custom work on an
individual basis, we are happy to take suggestions and requests for
motion captured animations. If there is any type of animation you
would like motion captured please do not hesitate to contact
us about it. We have our own in-house studio and do regular motion
capture shoots for our SL brand Abranimations®.
Our Secondlife brand Abranimations® stocks a huge range of motion
capture animations. We have something to fit everyone's tastes. You
can visit the Abranimations® website here.
What is motion capture?
Motion capture is the use of computer hardware to record
motion, in our case specifically human motion. The system we use
is a high end gyroscopic inertial motion capture system. The system
tracks the motion of an actors individual limbs via sensors attached
to them and records them on a computer. Our in house animator then
cleans up the data and generates SL ready bvh files for use in Secondlife®
The system we use is highly accurate and allows us
to capture some of the most realistic and fluid motion capture animation
in Secondlife®.
Why use motion capture?
The alternative to motion capture is key framed animation.
This can be created with software such as poser which allows you
to set individual poses to a 3d models limb positions. By changing
the limb positions at various stages(frames) over a period of time
you can create a sequence of pose changes. The animation software
then interpolates the motion in between these 'key frames' to make
a moving animation sequence.
Due to the low cost, relatively quick development time
and suitability for many purposes this is often a better choice for
animation creation. The problem however with key framed animations
is that it is practically impossibly to create them with all the
nuances of motion. As a result key framed animation can look somewhat
robotic. Motion capture animations however capture all of these subtle
movements to create ultra realistic smooth animations. |
